Therapy

I support clients to develop clear narratives about life experiences,

embrace self compassion, practice healthy boundaries,

and celebrate what brings them joy.

Therapeutic Relationship

I believe that a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship is key for change, and can be utilized to improve client relationships and behaviors. I am caring, compassionate and curious. I am known to go straight to the heart, embrace difficult emotions when they arise, and use humor in therapy. I believe in direct and open communication and take an active role in therapy. (If you are looking for a therapist who will just listen, I am likely not your person.) I want clients to ultimately be the source of their change and growth, and also hold people to their goals, beliefs, and behaviors.  Clients tell me that they appreciate my honesty, my creative approach, and how I lovingly challenge them.

Neuro Affirming Therapy

As a neurodivergent therapist I want to honor the amazing and/or challenging complexities of neurodivergent clients, and create a space that is free of bias and judgement. I will not pretend to be an expert in your neurodivergent experience, make assumptions, or engage in toxic positivity. I strive to create an environment that supports accommodations, embraces people's needs in and out of therapy sessions, fosters curiosity, and allows folks to explore their identity at their comfort level. If you are neurodivergent (or suspect you are) my goal is that you will feel safe and validated in being yourself in session, and that we find approaches to therapy that feel supportive and affirming. Also, I have no issues with self diagnosing, and "neuro-curious" folks are always welcome.

Therapeutic Interventions

I use a variety of therapeutic interventions to support clients in gaining insights to the self, learning to be their own guide when struggles arise. I support folks to connect with parts of themself that influence their behaviors and emotions. I help clients gain insights related to past harm to decrease trauma related suffering. I also include mindful and somatic approaches to support mind and body integration, with the goal of promoting greater overall healing and insight.

Narrative Exposure Therapy for Trauma

I engage clients in Narrative Exposure Therapy for trauma (PTSD & CPTSD) and other difficult life experiences. This approach supports the client by taking an in depth look into traumatic memories. The process can help a person contextualize details of fragmented memories to develop a coherent story and gain clarity about how these experiences impact them. In so doing, the memory and meanings of a traumatic episode and the person's life story is refined and more clearly understood. This increased clarity and exposure helps to decrease suffering related to the trauma.

Holistic Model of Care

I believe that therapy isn't the only framework for change, and regularly encourage clients to seek support from other mental health providers, alternative wellness providers (massage, naturopathic, acupuncture, etc), and psychiatric professionals. I believe this integration of care is essential for change. This may also include recommendations for support groups, social activities, or couples/relationship therapy.
